Class Description
STAT MedEvac, Rocky Grove, NWPA SAR, Pine Creek SAR, Allegheny Mountain Rescue Group
New for this year, we have 3 primary tracks, as follows:
- Medical Track: Traumatic crush injuries, mastering shock, allergies & altitude illnesses, ALS in austere conditions & K9 first aid.
- Rescue Track: Ropes & knots, preparing for a wilderness response, basic rope systems, patient packaging, wilderness survival.
- Search Track: CalTopo app, introduction to lost person behavior, drone operations, human remains detection, area K-9 search & training search.
Saturday Night: Map & navigation followed by a night navigation & scavenger hunt
Sunday Night: Large multi-discipline rescue operation exercise
Campers: Camp will open Friday, Sept 12, at 18:00.
Class doors open Saturday, Sept 13, at 08:00 at the dining hall.
Prerequisites: Physical ability to work in rough terrain and hills in various weather conditions.
Student Needs: Pen/pencil, work gloves, long sleeve shirt, long pants (military pants, tactical pants, jeans), leather work or hiking boots, rain gear, compass and/or GPS if you have one, head or hand light
